Distance learning arrangements due to the Taal Volcano eruption

principal's office letterhead

January 20, 2020,

Dear Parents,

Xavier School Nuvali has declared suspension of classes until January 24, 2020 to give way to the ongoing campus clean-up, and in view of Alert Level 4 that is still raised over Taal Volcano. These additional days are needed to help normalize the campus environment.

The different academic departments met last Friday and the results of their academic evaluation meeting is that the school has met the minimum learning competencies of the Department of Education by 75% to 90%. The rest of the requirements for the fourth quarter are intended to further deepen the skills and knowledge in some subject areas, especially in the higher grade levels because of the way these skills, knowledge, and competencies have been spiralled. Given this and upon consultation with the academic departments, it was deemed necessary to provide our students distance learning arrangements so that learning may continue.

The online learning materials will be sent through the following:

For Kindergarten to Grade Four students - The link will be sent to the email address of the parents. For those who unsubscribed from the mailing list / changed their email address without notifying XSN, please ask your co-parent to send you the link.

For Grade Five to Grade Six students - The link will be sent to the email addresses of parents and XSN emails of the students.

For Grade Seven to Grade Twelve students - All materials will be sent via Google Classroom. It is expected that the students are able to do independent work study.

Instructional materials will be sent on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 by 12 noon. In this regard, we would like to ask for your assistance in monitoring and in following up your child's progress in their off-campus learning activities.

This will be the first time that XSN will be doing online work due to suspension of classes and we request for your openness and flexibility as we go through this experience together. We will appreciate helpful and constructive feedback. We also understand that some students may not have their school materials with them. This has been taken into consideration and a screenshot/scanned copy of the pages of the books will be sent as well. For those who have temporarily evacuated their homes and will have difficulty accessing the materials, assistance will be given when classes resume. For any concerns, you may send an email to xsnpo@xsn.edu.ph.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

Sincerely,
