Last October 15, high school students participated in the 31st Southern Tagalog Invitational Mathematical Challenge (MATHEMATCH) organized by the UPLB Mathematical Sciences Society. Accompanied by their coach Ms. Amanda Jurado, SHS Math Teacher, students Stephen Dequito (Gr.8), Marco Laurel, Conner Manuel (Gr. 12) of Team 1 and AJ Marquino (Gr. 10), AJ Diu, and Jeremi Roque (Gr. 12) all participated in the closed door preliminary written round. Alternates Joshua Mendres (Gr. 11) and Francis Agutaya (Gr. 12) participated in the poster-making contest.
After the preliminary round, it was announced that Team 1 (Dequito, Laurel, Manuel) would push through to the final round, which was made up of three rounds. After the easy round, Team 1 came in first place, but slipped down to third in the next round. In the final and most difficult round, Team 1 emerged second place winners.
While the preliminaries were ongoing, alternates Mendres and Agutaya were in a different hall making their individual posters for the theme “Mathematical Epidemiology: A Contribution of Mathematics in Strengthening the Philippine Public Health and Medical Care Systems.” Their works are currently part of the MathSci Exhibit at the UPLB Math Building Lobby.
The school congratulates these young gentlemen on their accomplishments. Luceat lux!

With the support of Xavier School Nuvali, it has become a yearly tradition for XSPAN (Xavier School Parent Auxiliary-Nuvali) to host a gathering — fondly called fellowship — for students and families of Kindergarten and Grade 1 levels. The objective of this get together is to help students and their parents get to know each other in a more informal and casual way. It also aims to help unify and bond old and new students.
