In its commitment to uphold academic competence and magis, Xavier School Nuvali (XSN) proudly congratulates its students who were recently awarded the Department of Science and Technology’s Youth Excellence in Science (YES) Award. This year’s list of Xaverian YES awardees include Rovic Cañamo, Noel Stephen M. Dequito (10A), Jose Franco DG. Domingo (6B), Erik Nathan Estiva (5A), Yana Samantha Ashley C. Legaspi (10B), Misha Elise Marcelo (5D), and Nadine Marcela Salise Vanguardia(9A).
The YES Award is a recognition given to Filipino students who have excelled in international science and mathematics competitions. A total of 1,631 honorees were recognized by the DOST for 2020. In her message, DOST-Science Education Institute director Dr. Josette T. Biyo described the YES Award as an “avenue for celebrating the exceptional performances of our students in various international competitions” and underscored the government’s thrust in strengthening and investing in the country’s human resources in science and technology.
Since its inception, XSN has been actively involved in promoting STEM as shown by the number of Xaverians participating in local, national, and international academic olympiads. It can also be remembered that in 2019, the school was awarded by the Department of Education as the Best Science Program Implementer during the 2019 Gawad Calmbayani. Beyond these awards and recognitions, XSN remains steadfast in its mission to form its students in the spirit of excellence and service for others.
