XSN Kinder Fellowship 2022

“Tara na, Fiesta sa XSkwela!” – XSN Kinder Fellowship 2022

by Anna Mamon-Aban, Kinder C Parent Representative and Kinder Fellowship Head

A festive mood welcomed everyone to the Ramon S. Ang Gymnasium for the Kinder Fellowship Day last August 20, 2022. It was the first school gathering of Kinder families with the rest of the XSN community. Due to unforeseen circumstances, a HyFlex mode was offered to ensure everyone was able to join in on the fun (assisted by XSPAN and Class advisers).

In keeping with August as Buwan ng Wika, “Filipino Fiesta” was the chosen theme. The aim of the committee, composed of the Kinder Parent representatives and volunteers, was to share our wonderful childhood with our kids through the different aspects of the event. “Bayong” loot bags that were given out contained our favorite Pinoy toys such as yoyo, plastic balloon, teks, Pog, jackstone and sipa. The decorations were a “bayanihan”/shared effort among Kinder, Gr1 and Gr7 Fellowships, with each group adding their own unique touches for their events.

Mini-game booths (Ring Toss, Ping pong toss and Fishing game) entertained the early birds. Mr. Frederick Perez, Assistant Principal for Academics shared some inspirational words as part of the Opening. Each Kinder section then showed off their class spirit with their Class Cheer, led by their Advisers. The Enchanted Kingdom Circle of Artists performed Filipino Cultural dances: Subli, Sayaw Bangko and Tinikling. The kids also danced “I Love EK” with Eldar the Wizard and later on, along with fast tunes with Cherifer Boy, the well loved mascot of Cherifer.

And who could forget the games? The “Bayanihan Tug of War” tested the strength of the families, the “Newspaper Dance” that would probably be in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most participants and most fun, and the Calamansi and Pingpong Relay. It was a test of speed with the “Bring Me Game” and “Spin the Wheel” for the students in Zoom. Selected onsite and online families also won special prizes in the raffle and for being “Best in Filipiniana Costume.” An AVP of photos of the “favorite destination in the Philippines” of each Kinder family also showcased that it is indeed “more fun in the Philippines.” It was priceless seeing the kids running around together, laughing, jumping and simply enjoying the moment.

With the generosity of corporate, parent sponsors and family contributions, the event had a bountiful spread of Filipino treats such as Purefoods meals, taho, fishballs, kikiam, kwek kwek, donuts, ice cream, Rite n Lite drinks and the like. Shakey’s meals were also delivered to the online participants. The event culminated with a closing remark from Fr. Aristotle Dy, our School President. Fr. Ari also presided over the celebration of the Holy Mass sponsored by the Kinder batch. It was a fitting end to the Filipino Fiesta, a moment of Thanksgiving to our Lord for a successful event and a prayer offering for our families, the school and all our future events. We thank Xavier School Nuvali for the education and formation of our children and for events such as these, that nurture not just the mind, but the soul and our hearts!
