XSPA-N SY2022-23: YEAR END REPORT TO THE XSN COMMUNITY

By: Louise Lim Boden, XSPA-N Secretary

It was indeed a very productive and meaningful school year for the Xavier School Parents’ Auxiliary - Nuvali (XSPA-N). After two XSEL years when everything was conducted online, activities for SY 2022-23 were held onsite and were all overwhelmingly successful thanks mainly to the support given by the Xavier School Nuvali community.

XSPA-N started the school year with a back-to-school contest, Balik XSkwela HyfleXS, the first bonding activity that gave our students, teachers and parents the opportunity to work together and share their HyfleXS experience.  XSPA-N also hosted a General Assembly, missioning and oath-taking of parent representatives who accepted the challenge and volunteered their time and effort to help achieve our mission of a successful home-school collaboration.

Very well attended were the Kinder, the Grade 1, and the Grade 7 Fellowships that fostered bonding and camaraderie among the students, new and old alike, and their families.  The Moon Festival, with nearly 800 participants, was the first biggest gathering since students were allowed back on site.  Moreover, two fora were held in the middle of the school year where industry experts shared their invaluable insights and advice to the parents on the field of eye health - Beyond the Screen: Caring for our Eyes and digital parenting - ABSO-lutely! (Always Be Safe Online), respectively.

With Christmas being the best time to share our blessings, the annual Carol Fest food bazaar was back with all grade levels raising a significant amount for the benefit of the Fr. Zuloaga Scholarship Fund.

Through the parents’ generosity, we were also able to give our faculty and staff a fun-filled and memorable Christmas party as our appreciation for their hard work and commitment in making HyfleXS a success.

And, for XSPA-N’s final project for the school year, the EXECOM unanimously agreed to support our student athletes and the school’s sports program.  With XSN hosting the Jesuit Athletic Meet (JAM) in September 2023, this project aims to assist the school in its preparation for this much-anticipated sporting event as well as to strengthen the development of our varsity players. Therefore, the following donations were made:

  1. Strength and conditioning equipment

  2. Wet area mats for the shower rooms

  3. Pace clock for swimming

  4. Portable game clock and buzzer

  5. Nets for the football field

On top of this, additional speakers and subwoofers were also donated last December 2022 to augment the existing sound system of the Ramon S. Ang Gymnasium where general assemblies, institutional Masses, and big celebrations like Carol Fest and Chinese New Year are usually held.

Formal turnover ceremony of all donations were held last April 11, 2023 in the presence of the XSPA-N SY2022-23 Executive Committee members, assistant head for athletics Coach Julius Abesamis and Kinder to Grade 1 Team Leader Mrs. Maan Domingo, as well as varsity head coaches and team captains across all sports.
